Diablo
Nature Adventures (DNA)
is up and running again after a brief hiatus. In
addition to the old standards like On the Rocks, Viewpoints and Set
in Stone, we have some exciting new wellness and watershed
education offerings. Your favorite DNA teacher-naturalists will be
on hand to lead your students through engaging activities that promote
their understanding and appreciation of the natural world.
It is not too early to schedule field trips. Fall field trips
are offered in Mt. Diablo State Park and
the surrounding open space areas from September 15 to November 15 and Spring trips from March
15 until June 15th. Programs can be customized to meet the needs
of specific audiences.
We consider experiences with the natural world for all ages essential
to life, hence the business name, DNA. This year we have added
two workshops especially for teachers to help you facilitate your
creek study and school gardening/nutrition programs.
Fees will continue to average $12/student. We are seeking sponsors
for a new scholarship program so we can serve the widest range of
student populations. As a special bonus, Ken Lavin will offer his
spectacular weekend waterfalls and wildflower hikes (2008) to benefit
this scholarship program which will be offered through LifeGarden
a 501c3 non-profit educational organization.
Also in collaboration with LifeGarden (an
organization dedicated to teaching ecology and sustainable land use)
we will offer locally based habitat restoration service learning
opportunities.
We believe that the key to caring for the Earth lies in understanding
ecology and as a team we are committed to acting on this belief.
Our programs are always evolving as we try to be the best at engaging
students in real life activities. To download the complete
